Mathematics becomes manageable
when the ideas begin to connect
Mathematics is not simply a collection of procedures to memorise. It is a connected system of ideas: number, algebra, geometry, functions, probability, statistics and calculus all build upon one another.
Many students can follow a worked example but feel uncertain when the wording changes or when several topics appear in the same problem. They may know an individual technique without understanding why it works, when to use it, or how to recognise the underlying structure of a question.
My online Maths tuition addresses that problem directly. Lessons develop secure foundations, accurate mathematical communication and flexible problem solving. Students learn to interpret questions, choose an efficient method, organise their working and check whether an answer is reasonable.
I support students who are finding Mathematics difficult, as well as high-achieving students preparing for top grades, competitive university courses, entrance examinations and Olympiads. Each programme is adapted to the student’s curriculum, present level and longer-term goals.
“Mathematical confidence grows when a student can explain not only what to do, but why the method works.”
How I teach Mathematics online
Every lesson has a clear purpose. I identify what the student understands, locate the point at which their reasoning becomes uncertain and then rebuild the topic through explanation, questioning and carefully selected problems.
Maths tuition from GCSE
to university level
The level and pace change, but the principle remains the same: secure the foundations, understand the Mathematics and practise applying it with increasing independence.
From essential foundations
to advanced mathematical thinking
Programmes are aligned with the student’s specification, but lessons also reveal the connections between topics so that Mathematics is understood as a coherent subject rather than a sequence of unrelated techniques.
Focused, interactive lessons
with no travel required
Online tuition allows us to work directly on equations, graphs, diagrams and mathematical reasoning in real time. The technology supports the teaching; it does not replace thoughtful explanation or individual attention.
Mathematics taught with the clarity
the subject deserves
I have taught Mathematics and Physics for more than three decades and worked as a researcher within the CERN ATLAS Collaboration. This combination of classroom experience, mathematical expertise and advanced scientific training allows me to explain difficult ideas accurately while remaining attentive to how individual students learn.
My role is not to complete questions on behalf of the student. It is to help the student develop the understanding, habits and confidence required to solve them independently. That includes learning how to identify the structure of a problem, choose an efficient method, check an answer and communicate a conclusion clearly.
For ambitious students, lessons extend beyond routine examination questions into unfamiliar and multi-stage problems. For students who have lost confidence, we slow down, repair the foundations and create a sequence of achievable steps. In both cases, the teaching remains rigorous and respectful.
Tuition aligned with the course
the student is actually studying
The terminology, assessment objectives, permitted technology and topic sequence vary between specifications. Teaching is therefore aligned carefully with the student’s own course rather than relying on a generic set of lessons.
